Dr. Andrés Blasco Carratalá, graduated in Medicine at the Universidad de Sevilla in 1971.
Specialized in Ophtalmology shortly after at the Medicine Faculty in the University of Cádiz, achieving a CUM LAUDE doctorate in 1976.
In 1977 he started working in Clínica Carratalá, which some years later, grew to what it is now with Clínica Virgen de la Palma.
His career has been exclusively dedicated to be up to date with the most modern techniques in Ophtalmology.
He has gone across a massive development in Cataracts surgery to what it is nowadays, with phacoemulfication, which has made patients lose fear to this kind of surgery.
In 1998, he started to do surgery in refraction defects with Eximer Laser.
During all these years, all technical surgery equipment has been replaced with always the best and most modern equipment available at the time. Today, he is working with a last generation LASER AMARIS, which has considerably reduced the treatment time in 30% and has granted patient's an almost inmediate healing.
Also he is using other technologies like Argon Laser, Yag Laser, OCT...
Clínica Virgen de la Palma was acredited in 2.009 with the "Advanced Quality by the Junta de Andalucia" ( a merit of excellence granted by the regional Government).
